Kate Offringa Joins the NAIMA Staff as the New Director, Federal & State Programs

Alexandria, VA (June 6, 2005) – The North American Insulation Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kate Offringa as the director, federal and state programs.   She will be responsible for directing all activities regarding federal, state and local energy efficiency/acoustic programs and for representing fiberglass, rock and slag wool within these programs.

Offringa comes to NAIMA from The Alliance to Save Energy where she was director of market transformation.  In this role, she was responsible for domestic and international programs for energy efficiency in the building sector.  Prior to this, she was government affairs associate at Siemens Corporation where she tracked and reported on federal legislation, including trade policy and U.S. electricity market restructuring.   Ms. Offringa was also the deputy director of programs for The European Institute where she focused on transatlantic relations.

“Kate’s strong experience in energy efficiency and government affairs will be a great asset to NAIMA,” said Ken Mentzer, President and CEO, “We are very glad to have her on our team.”

Offringa is a member of several associations in the industry, including the International Association for Energy Economics, Association of Energy Services Professionals, and Women’s Council on Energy and the Environment. Ms. Offringa also served as a board member and treasurer of the National Fenestration Rating Council.

Offringa received her Master of Arts degree in international relations and economics from The Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies in 2000.  She received her B.A. degree Magna Cum Laude from the University of New Hampshire in political science and international affairs in 1993.
