NAIMA Launches Consumer Campaign to Curb Energy Demand, High Heating BillsFiber Glass Insulation Manufacturers Team Up with State Organizations in California, New York, and Georgia to Educate HomeownersSACRAMENTO, CA; ALBANY, NY; and ATLANTA, GA February 5, 2001 - With California suffering through its worst energy crisis in decades, home heating prices at an all-time high in New York, and natural gas prices skyrocketing in Georgia, a campaign to help consumers learn how to conserve energy and cut their fuel costs is being launched in Sacramento, Albany, and Atlanta. The program, created by the North American Insulation Manufacturers Association (NAIMA), is tailored to address the needs and concerns specific to homeowners in each city. The campaign begins today and continues through the end of February. The centerpiece of the program is an interactive, informational web site (www.simplyinsulate.com) where consumers can learn about upgrading their home insulation and obtain detailed information about energy programs offered in their states. The site also features links to resources provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. Radio advertising and promotional spots will air in Albany, Atlanta, and Sacramento to promote the web site and the programs message, "Raise Your IQ Simply Insulate." The message is designed to inform homeowners that raising their IQ their Insulation Quotient is a smart and simple way to conserve energy and relieve the burden of high heating costs. "Homeowners in different regions of the country are facing unique challenges when it comes to energy consumption and pricing," said Ken Mentzer, President of NAIMA. "We want to make them aware that taking a small step like increasing the level of insulation in their homes can help conserve energy and can lead to significant savings. Adding insulation to existing homes is easy, economical and smart for homeowners in every part of the country," Mentzer said. Following the launch of the program in Sacramento, Albany, and Atlanta, NAIMA expects to expand the campaigns reach to include other cities around the country. Although program components are currently tailored to address issues specific to the winter season, the campaigns overall message is seasonless and applies to every region in the United States. |
